Two monkeys sitting on a tree: one for the its top, the second
height of 10 feet on the ground. The second monkey, trying to drink water from a distant source in
about 40 yards, got off the tree, at that time the first
monkey jumped from the top directly to the same source after
hypotenuse. The distance traveled by the monkeys was the same. With
how much the first monkey jumped from a tree?
Solution:
The result was a monkey jump right triangle.
Since the distance was the same, the hypotenuse is equal to 50 cubits
. Distant source is 40 yards, so much is one of the
hypotenuse. Using the Pythagorean theorem come quickly,
that tree height is 30 cubits.
